In today’s society,with change of knowledge and network world,mathematics teaching is not only in classroom teaching,but also in teaching students to read mathematics.The ancients of our country once said,"Read a million books and travel a million miles".Reading can make people smart,reading can make people progress.The improvement of mathematical reading ability is very necessary for students to integrate into society.To make clear the composition and current situation of senior high school students’ mathematics reading ability can point out the direction for its cultivation.The purpose of is to investigate mathematics reading ability of high school students in Xining City.First of all,compile a questionnaire "High school students mathematical reading ability structure questionnaire(teacher version)",9 high schools in Xining City from teaching for many year,has rich teaching experience of teachers a total of 128 people to conduct a questionnaire survey.8 factors of the mathematical reading ability structure of high school students were selected,sorted according to the importance of: language characterization ability,language translation ability,information screening ability,mathematical metacognitive ability,logical reasoning ability,reading migration ability,summary ability,rational reasoning ability.Secondly,the survey was conducted on 660 high school and sophomore students from three high schools in Xining City.From the data analysis,it is concluded that high school students’ reading ability is generally not high and there are different degrees of difference in eight factors.It is found that there are differences in grade,and the math reading ability of senior and second grade students is slightly higher than that of senior year.There are also differences in gender,in the information screening ability,reasoning ability,mathematics metacognitive ability of girls are slightly less than boys,in reading migration ability,summary ability,logical reasoning ability of boys slightly better than girls,in language translation ability and language characterization ability is not gender differences.Through the study,teaching suggestions are proposed for each of the eight factors of mathematical reading ability:(1)improve the teaching program,let students carry out multi-faceted characterization(2)rough reading Combined with intensive reading,the phased screening information(3)teaches the method of independent learning,cultivates the cognitive ability of mathematical metacognitives(4)arranges the teaching content reasonably,and stimulates the interest of logical reasoning(5)using divergent thinking,bold guessing(6)analysis of application questions,improve summary generalization ability(7)through geometric intuitive,improve summary generalization ability(8)in the theorem study,reasoning and proof,etc.
