Research On The Digital Life Integration Of The Urban Elderly In Northwest China

At present,aging has become a typical feature of China's population structure.At the same time,with the rapid development of media technology,Chinese society has entered the digital age.Therefore,it has important research significance to explore the media use of the elderly.The use of elderly media can promote the development of the elderly media industry,improve the media literacy of the elderly,and narrow the "digital divide." This article uses grounded theoretical guidance and in-depth interview research methods to investigate and qualitatively analyze the use of smart media by the elderly in Northwest China.Based on the category coding of the data,the core category is defined as "digital media for the elderly.The construction of the relationship between self and other-self".After an in-depth analysis of the original data under this theoretical framework,there are two findings: One is that the intelligent media has a directional effect on the social connection between the elder's self and the social others,that is,interpersonal communication.The second is that media content has the function of reconstructing the social identity of the elderly.The elderly "integrate" or "disconnect" from the society through smart media.Due to uneven regional economic development,media education for the elderly in areas with low economic development has not been carried out in depth.The local elderly generally have a mentality of neglecting the role of media and fearing media technology,and have an attitude of recognition but not use of new media technology..The research found that the field of digital integration in exploring the modern life of the elderly has expanded.
