The international research on job burnout began in the 1970 s,and since then,as a common phenomenon experienced by people,it has been presented to the public. As one of the most stressful jobs, high school teachers are prone to the erosion of job burnout, which affects the stable development of high school teachers and the academic achievement of high school students. As an important part of high school education, rural high school teachers also become the core force to promote the popularization of high school education. Therefore, the job burnout phenomenon of rural high school teachers is a social problem worthy of attention and in urgent need of improvement.Focusing on the influencing factors of rural high school teachers’ job burnout can theoretically enrich the research on the antedate causes of teachers’ job burnout, and practically provide effective strategies to prevent and intervene teachers’ job burnout, which is of great significance to the sustainable development of high school education. In this study,by referring to relevant literature and using the 2018 survey data of rural high school teachers from China Rural Education Development Institute of Northeast Normal University,15,571 teachers from 130 rural high schools in 35 counties in 18 provinces of China were studied on the factors affecting job burnout.Based on the definition of job burnout by Katariina Salmela-Aro et al.,the study divided the structure of job burnout of rural high school teachers into three dimensions: job exhaustion, apathy and low professional efficacy.Given the intricacies of these three dimensions,it is not recommended to combine burnout. Finally, through the analysis of multiplelevel linear model and multiple linear model, the factors affecting the job burnout of rural high school teachers are discussed. The survey results show that :(1)on the whole, rural high school teachers have a relatively high degree of job exhaustion, apathy and a slightly low sense of professional efficacy. The factors affecting the job burnout of rural high school teachers are divided into three categories: individual objective factors, transactional factors and organizational factors.(2)Individual objective factors refer to the impact of some demographic variables on the job burnout of rural high school teachers.Among them, gender, teaching age and professional title have certain differences in the job burnout of rural high school teachers, but the differences are small. There is no correlation between the vocational burnout of rural high school teachers and the graduate school(educational background). The state of health has a significant influence on the job burnout of rural high school teachers. In a word, individual objective factors have some differences in the phenomenon of rural high school teachers’ job burnout, but they have a weak predictive effect.(3)Transaction factors, including job satisfaction and stressors(teachers’ workload and students’ improper behaviors),have significant predictive effects on the job burnout of rural high school teachers. The subjective perception of the school organization environment is a strong predictor of the job burnout of rural high school teachers.(4)Organizational factors, namely organizational atmosphere, include five dimensions, namely: Collaboration,Student Relations,School Resources,Instructional Innovation, and Decision Making. The Student Relationship and Decision Making can significantly predict the degree of job exhaustion of rural high school teachers.Collaboration and Student Relations can significantly predict the apathy and low professional efficacy of rural high school teachers.Instructional Innovation and School Resources have no direct predictive effect on the job burnout of rural high school teachers, but they are significantly moderator between job exhaustion and pressure of workload.
