The teaching and research ability in the new era determines the level of teaching and is one of the necessary professional qualities for teachers.Teachers need to closely integrate teaching practice with educational theories,using theories to guide practice and using practice to explore and test the theories.Lanzhou,as the provincial capital,is the highland of Gansu education and the gathering place of high-quality educational resources.The new high school entrance examination reform policy of Gansu Province shows that Lanzhou will take the lead and implement the reform of the new high school entrance exam in 2021.This is a brand new attempt and an unprecedented challenge.It is of great theoretical value and practical significance to research on the teaching and research ability of junior middle school chemistry teachers in Lanzhou and to put forward feasible development countermeasures,which not only helps to improve the quality of local education,but also provides a model for teachers' teaching and research capabilities in other prefectures and cities in the province.Based on this,this research takes 'Lanzhou Junior Middle School Chemistry Teachers' Teaching and Research Ability Status Quo and Development Countermeasures" as the topic,and summarizes the research status of teachers' teaching and research abilities at home and abroad.The author focus on teaching research of Lanzhou junior middle school chemistry teachers,compiles the questionnaires for the research,investigates the teaching and research ability of chemistry teachers and conducts the research on the current situation and existing problems of teachers' teaching and research ability.Based on the relevant theories of educational scientific research and existing related research results,the paper makes a more in-depth investigation and analysis,raising suggestions and strategies to effectively improve the teaching and research capabilities of chemistry teachers in Lanzhou junior high schools.The results show as follows.In terms of "research value recognition",most teachers recognize that middle school chemistry teachers are carrying out teaching research and willing to invest time in teaching research,but the quality of their papers published is not high.In terms of "key literacy",the survey finds that teachers' mastery of research methods and the ability needs to be improved.At the same time,teachers' access to academic materials needs to be broadened,not limited to Baidu and teaching reference books.In terms of "environmental impact of research",schools need to provide teachers with professional newspapers and magazines,and high-quality professional training,while taking into account the time allocation for conducting teaching research and classes.In terms of “research participation”,teachers' participation in project research is not very optimistic,but the number of papers published is relatively optimistic.In terms of "research implementation effectiveness",carrying out teaching research can help enhance teachers' research enthusiasm,but the promotion and application of research results is not very good.Through the investigation and analysis results,the factors affecting the improvement of the teaching and research ability of chemistry teachers in Lanzhou junior high schools are refined.The relevant suggestions and countermeasures are put forward from the teacher level,school level and social level.Teachers can be improved through pre-employment training,value recognition,promotion of personal wishes,guaranteed time investment,and professional self-improvement.Schools can build platforms and incentive mechanism and provide training to achieve the improvement of the teaching and research ability of junior high school chemistry teachers.As well,the social evaluation system should be improved and more social attention should be strengthened to achieve the goals.This study hopes to find out the current situation of the teaching and research abilities of chemistry teachers in Lanzhou junior high schools,formulate practical strategies based on the current situation,provide some reference for the education administration department to organize training,and offer some materials and ideas for follow-up related research.
