The ability of autonomous learning in mathematics is not only one of the necessary skills in the 21 st century, but also an important topic in the research of mathematics education. With the rise of the grades of pupils, their concepts, psychology, and thoughts gradually develop, and they have acquired a certain degree of self-awareness.By the fifth and sixth grades of elementary school students have basically had the ability to learn mathematics independently, which is important for research reality. The questions to be solved in this research are: What is the status quo of students' self-learning ability in mathematics in the upper grades of primary school? What are the factors that affect the self-learning ability of mathematics in the upper grades of elementary school? What are the strategies to improve the self-learning ability of mathematics in the upper grades of elementary school?Taking the fifth and sixth grade students of three primary schools in Xi'an as the main research object, using the literature method, questionnaire method, testing method, interview method and classroom observation method, the current situation and influencing factors of the mathematics self-learning ability of the upper grade students in the primary school are studied. The status quo of students' self-learning ability in mathematics in the upper grades of primary school is as follows:(1)From the overall situation, students' self-learning ability in mathematics is at a general level. There is a big difference between students with strong abilities and students with weak abilities.Grade differentiation is serious;(2)From different dimensions, students' self-regulation ability in the process of mathematics learning is at a good level, but they are subject to too much intervention by parents and teachers, and there is insufficient space for autonomy;the intrinsic motivation of mathematics learning is at a good level, but there are Some students need the command and supervision of others, and their study habits are not good;the ability to acquire mathematics knowledge is acceptable, but the actual application ability is weak;(3)From the perspective of gender, grade, and family environment, boys' self-learning ability in mathematics Higher than female students, and the three performance dimensions are higher than female students;sixth grade students have higher ability to acquire and use mathematics knowledge than fifth grade students, and fifth grade students have higher internal motivation ability in mathematics learning and high self-regulation ability in mathematics learning process Students in the sixth grade;students who are not the only child have stronger self-learning ability in mathematics, and students with an authoritative and tolerant parenting style have stronger self-learning ability in mathematics.According to the current survey results and interview analysis, there are two internal and external factors that affect the self-learning ability of mathematics of upper grade primary school students:(1)The internal factors are learning interest,self-regulation,and self-efficacy.The self-learning ability of mathematics has the main influence;(2)The external factors are teacher quality, the leadership of the principal, and the family environment. These factors have a direct impact on the self-learning ability of mathematics.Based on the research on the status quo and influencing factors of the students' self-learning ability in mathematics in the upper grades of elementary school, the following four strategies for cultivating the self-learning ability in mathematics are proposed:(1)Stimulate students to actively explore and develop their self-learning ability;(2)Strengthen teacher teaching Accomplishment helps students to learn autonomously;(3)Create a mathematics cultural atmosphere and build an autonomous learning mechanism for students;(4)Optimize the home-school cooperation mechanism and work together to enhance autonomous learning ability.
