China is a great agricultural country with a large population in the countryside,thus the rural education plays a dominant role.As the initial stage of overall education,the primary education is the basis for the entire learning process as well as the key stage that influences the path in life,and also lays the foundation for future education.In quality education,music education is more noticeable in developing and shaping students' personality.It not only cultivates sentiments and builds healthy personality,but also helps establish healthy aesthetic concept and form a positive and optimistic attitude towards life.However,there remain many problems in current rural education in China,such as shortage of teachers,harsh teaching environment,backward teaching facilities etc.,which reflects that the prospect for China's rural education is gloomy and that for music education is even more.In this case,this paper takes music education in County C as an example to analyze causes of the problems and explore the solutions based on field surveys,questionnaires and interviews,aiming to reflect education status in China's rural areas and provide reference for the development of music education in rural areas.According to the survey,the prominent problems of music education in rural primary school of County C are as follows.First of all,teaching resources are limited.Most the music teachers are part-time teachers,and the full-time music teachers are scarce.In this case,teachers' music professional level is not high.Secondly,there is a shortage of teaching facilities.Thirdly,music courses are set improperly.These all bring serious impacts on the quality of music teaching in these rural primary schools.There are many reasons for the problems.Among them,the foremost that hinder the development of music education in these areas are the backward rural economy and the traditional education concept.To solve these problems,this paper proposes some effective strategies to promote the development of music education in primary schools of County C based on the investigations and studies,hoping to arise the attention of the government and social people;to call on the government to attach more importance to the music education in rural primary schools;to strengthen the standardization and professionalization of music teaching in rural primary schools;to enhance the training of music teachers in rural primary schools;to enrich music teaching activities in rural primary schools;to fully integrate and utilize educational resources;to improve teaching environment of music education,and quality and level of music education in rural primary schools of County C.
