As an indispensable part in China’s rural quality education, rural music teaching occupies an essential role in establishing the new socialist countryside. Most of the rural primary and middle schools of Yanbian area, however, are in the distant regions, where the transports are not convenient, teaching infrastructures are simple and crude, the teachers’ team are not qualified enough, especially in the field of music teaching. Therefore, the author makes a study of 12 rural primary and middle schools in order to realize the current condition of the music teaching in Yanbian rural area. Within the empirical methodology of questionnaire, interviews, this study did researches among 702 students,90 teachers, some parents and related officials. In addition, the study make an analysis based on the data acquired in the research. Finally it comes to the conclusion that music teaching awareness is not strong enough in the rural primary and middle schools of Yanbian area; the teachers’ teaching quality is not good enough; the music teaching infrastructure is not advanced; the brain drain is severe and the after-school activities are monotonous.Furthermore, it comes up with some solutions to improve the situation. First, introduce the bi-musicality to music classes. Second, improve schools’ music teaching awareness and perfect the quality of teachers’ team. Thirdly, improve the music teaching related infrastructures. Forth, cultivate the college students’sense of devotion and their supporting education awareness. Fifth, develop after-school activities and enlarge their aesthetic scope.
