STSE education is composed of the initials of human society,environment,science,technology,etc..STSE education aims to cultivate talents who apply knowledge to solve practical problems,have scientific innovation spirit and a sense of social responsibility,which coincides with our country's educational goals.Although there were relatively many researches on STSE education so far,STSE education was hardly implemented in the teaching of biology in high school.Therefore,this research aimed to provide teaching design that can be applied to high school biology classrooms and integrated into STSE education,so as to promote the implementation of STSE education in the teaching of biology in high school.This paper used the literature research method to look for the relevant theories and development status of STSE education;on this basis,through the content analysis method,the paper analyzed the 2020 revised biology curriculum standard(hereinafter referred to as the "new curriculum standard");the paper compared and analyzed the 2004 PEP version of biology 1 and biology 2(hereinafter referred to as the "old textbooks")?the 2019 PEP version of biology 1 and biology 2(hereinafter referred to as "new textbooks")and STSE questions in the 2016-2020 new curriculum standard national volume(biology);through questionnaire survey method,some students and teachers in Shihezi high school were surveyed in order to understand the current implementation of STSE education in high schools and propose solutions and implementation paths in biology classrooms.Subsequently,based on the requirements of the new biology curriculum standard for STSE education as the theoretical basis for teaching design.And guided by constructivist learning theory,situational cognition and situational learning theories,a "problem discussion" column that embodied the STSE concept,an STSE question and the compulsory second new textbook Chapter 5 Section 3 "Human Genetic Diseases" were designed for teaching,and half a semester of teaching practice were carried out in two science classes where students were no significant differences.Last but not least,students' STSE awareness,interest and academic performance in biology were surveyed again.It was found that STSE education was regarded as one of the important ways to implement the core literacy of biology subject in the new curriculum standard.Compared with the old textbooks,the number of STSE education columns,the dimensions and quantity of STSE content were increased significantly.After analyzing the biological STSE questions of the National College Entrance Examination for the past 5 years,it was found that the scores of the STSE exercises in the papers accounted for almost 20% to 50% of the total scores each year.It can be seen that STSE education plays an important role in high school biology curriculum.The questionnaire survey showed that students' interest in biology was relatively low,students' STSE awareness was at a general level,students' biological performance was significantly related to students' STSE awareness,and the implementation of school STSE education was positively correlated with students' biological performance and students' STSE awareness.The surveyed teachers' understanding of STSE education was at a general level,and their understanding of STSE content in textbooks and the implementation of STSE education in teaching were between uncertainty and basic compliance.The implementation of STSE education by teachers was significantly related to the level of teachers' professional titles and teachers' understanding of STSE education.Teachers' recognition of STSE education was positively related to the implementation of STSE education.In response to the survey results,three suggestions were put forward: the education authorities should arrange the program and guidelines for the implementation of STSE education,and provide an open micro-course platform which embodies STSE education for teachers and students.Secondly,high schools should be equipped with STSE educational resources,organize various STSE educational activities,and strengthen teacher training.Finally,teachers should improve awareness of STSE education and consciously link life in biology teaching.After the teaching designs based on STSE education were implemented,compared with control class,students' achievement in biology at experimental class were no significant difference(P=0.753>0.05).However,students' STSE awareness(P=0.019<0.05)and interest in biology(P=0.028<0.05)were conspicuous difference.In short,this research provided cases and methods for the development of STSE resources contained in the compulsory 1 and compulsory 2 of the new biology textbooks.Practice had verified the feasibility of STSE education in the biology class,and provided a way for integrating STSE education into high school biology class,which can be of use for reference.
