Cultivating students' autonomous learning ability is not only the requirement of quality education,but also the urgent need of students' lifelong development.Today's society has stepped into the era of knowledge economy,and the total amount of knowledge presents an explosive growth,which requires students to keep learning,constantly update themselves,transcend themselves,and become independent learners.Mind mapping is a visual thinking processing tool to express divergent thinking.In the investigation process,the author introduced mind mapping into geography classroom teaching to provide new ideas for teachers in cultivating students' autonomous learning ability and a new learning method for students.This investigation takes the students of a senior high school in Liaocheng as the research object.In the investigation process,literature research,investigation and experimental methods are adopted to conduct a preliminary exploration on the application of mind mapping in geography teaching.This paper mainly does the following work:?.By referring to a large number of relevant literatures,the relevant researches on independent learning and mind mapping are summarized to understand the research progress of independent learning and mind mapping at home and abroad,so as to provide a basis for the application of mind mapping in high school geography independent learning.?.Before the experiment,the author conducted an investigation and interview with school teachers and students by referring to the independent learning test scale developed by Pang Weiguo and Shan Zhiyan,so as to fully understand the problems encountered in the development of high school students' initiative in geography learning and provide directions for the following research.The survey results show that teachers lack targeted attention and guidance in the process of cultivating students' independent learning ability,students lack the awareness of active learning,and do not develop good learning habits.The current situation of high school students' independent learning is very worrying.?.The author according to the problems existing in the questionnaire,and combined with the related theory of high school geography knowledge,students in the process of autonomous learning is put forward the specific strategies of mind mapping,including the preparation before class,learn lessons,and review after class evaluation aspects such as how to use a mind map,and design the corresponding teaching cases,trying to blend in mind mapping in the process of autonomous learning.?.Evaluate the teaching practice by means of achievement test,interview and homework collection.Through the research,it is found that the application of mind mapping in high school geography classroom teaching can stimulate students' interest in learning,guide students to consciously construct a knowledge system in learning,rationally plan their own learning,improve their independent learning ability,and then achieve the improvement of academic performance.
