Application Of HPS Teaching Model In Chemistry Teaching In Senior High School

With the introduction of the five core literacies of chemistry in the General High School Chemistry Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition),the concept of "literacy-based" teaching has received attention from education scholars.The introduction of the HPS model into chemistry teaching is in line with the new trend of curriculum reform in China and is of great significance to students' development.This study is based on the HPS teaching model and takes the history of science,the philosophy of science and the sociology of science as the main orientations,and develops three teaching designs: "Periodic table of elements","Redox reactions" and "Chlorine and its compounds"."Three teaching designs were developed,and a comparative analysis was used to evaluate the effectiveness of the teaching in two parallel classes of a senior class for three months.The study obtained: after the teaching experiment,there was a significant difference in scientific literacy(including scientific essence view,critical thinking and humanistic literacy)between the experimental and control classes,which proved that teaching high school chemistry based on the HPS teaching model had a more significant effect on the development of students' scientific literacy,while teachers and students recognized the role of the HPS teaching model in chemistry.It is hoped that this paper will provide new ideas for the development of science literacy in high school students.
