In recent years,with the continuous expansion of college enrollment,the employment of college graduates has been very serious.Compared with college students,the employment of secondary vocational school graduates who are at a disadvantage in terms of age,knowledge,family and social experience is more severe.With the continuous development of science and technology,the employment demands of enterprises have also changed greatly,and the competitiveness of primary skilled workers is becoming lower in the labor market.Meanwhile,as our country is paying more attention to vocational education and vocational education develops rapidly,an increasing number of graduates from secondary vocational schools will flood into the job market.In this context,training and helping secondary vocational school graduates to form reasonable employment intentions and help them to successfully obtain high-quality employment has become a problem that schools,society,families and the government must pay attention to.This study conducted a questionnaire survey on the graduates majoring in processing and manufacturing at X secondary vocational school in Qingdao.The survey was carried out from two dimensions: demographic background characteristics and employment intention.Through statistical analysis,it is found that the following problems exist in their employment intention: enough confidence in finding a satisfactory job but less understanding of the job position related to their major;the time of considering employment is relatively late,and some students are late in preparing for employment.Their ideal work units include large state-owned enterprises and government institutions,and generally they are willing to work in the hometown,with the most important employment factor being income.Their expectations on initial monthly salary is high;They are less active in seeking jobs and rely heavily on school.Through the statistical analysis,it is found that the following factors can influence their employment intention: the influence of gender on employment cognition and expectation;influence of being one-child on employment expectation;impact of working competence on employment expectation and channel;impact of parents on employment preparation and expectation;most of them are willing to start their own business.In view of the above employment intentions and factors,this study puts forward suggestions to improve the employment intention of secondary vocational school graduates:at the individual level,graduates should have a reasonable employment plan,actively adjust their attitude,and enhance the comprehensive quality;at the school level,school should reform the talent training mode,cultivate students’ craftsman spirit and strengthen employment guidance;In terms of social environment,the government should provide assistance to stabilize employment,create a positive atmosphere of public opinion,offer access to higher education,coordinate the balanced development of all regions,and improve the old-age security policy for one-child families;On the family side,parents should offer positive guidance on employment concept and provide both emotional and financial support for their children’s employment.
