China and Laos are both socialist countries.Due to their background, frequent interaction and cultural exchanges, the two neighboring countries should strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the field of education. This study is a comparative study of China's Compulsory Mathematics Curriculum Standards(2011 Edition)and Laos' Primary Mathematics Curriculum Standards(2010 Edition),on the one hand,to understand the actual situation of primary school mathematics curriculum standards between China and Laos.On the other hand,by comparing the core contents of the primary school mathematics curriculum standards in the two countries,we will effectively promote the reform of the primary mathematics curriculum standards in the two countries for further improvements. This study adopted the literature method, content analysis method and comparative method, this study makes a comparative study of the mathematics curriculum standards in primary schools between China and Laos, and analyzes the basic framework, curriculum nature, curriculum concept, curriculum objectives, curriculum content and implementation recommendations of the primary school curriculum standards in China and Laos,so as to find out the similarities and differences between the curriculum standards of the China and Laos, and provide a useful reference for the improvement of curriculum standards content in China and Laos.Through comparative analysis,it is found that:1)In terms of the basic framework of curriculum standards,China and Laos have different expressions in the structure of the system and slightly different in the content structure. In general, the overall framework structure of the Chinese Curriculum is more complete and clear than the Lao Curriculum Standards;2)In terms of the nature of the curriculum,China has clearly proposed it,and Laos has not explicitly proposed it in the curriculum standards, but we can analyze and extract the text,it is found that there are greater similarities between in the two countries curriculum standards, that including"fundamental","universal"and "developmental",Laos also includes" Practicality";3)In terms of curriculum concepts, both countries have put forward five basic concepts of curriculum, and both countries have proposed that the curriculum should reflect social needs and pay attention to the combination of teaching and practice. To attach importance to the student's principal position, encourage and support the development and progress of students, the curriculum should pay attention to keep pace with the times;4)In terms of curriculum objectives, both countries have so-called "overall goals" and"segment goals",but China is clearer and more reasonable, while Laos is more general because it shares a curriculum goal with other subjects;5)in term of curriculum contents, both countries cover the content of the course, there is some commonality between "numbers and algebra","space and geometry","statistics and probability"and so on in the setting of subject knowledge.China has designed "numbers and algebra","space and geometry","statistics and probability","synthesis and practice" in two segments,Laos has designed "numbers","operations","geometry/data" and "measurements".China has the content of the comprehensive and practical part, but Laos does not have this part;6)In terms of implementation recommendations,China is more detail and rich than Laos in its brief summary, and China's implementation proposals involve students and teachers,as well as other relevant personnel, while the Lao section favors teachers. From the above research conclusions, this paper puts forward some suggestions on the setting of primary school mathematics curriculum standards in China and Laos, and puts forward suggestions for improving the basic, epochal, scientific and selective standards of primary school mathematics curriculum in China and Laos two countries.
