Students are the main body of education,and the research on students has always been one of the hot spots of education,especially the care of "disadvantaged students".Some studies focus on students with learning difficulties,others on students who are culturally marginalized,and others on students who are repressed in the system.In short,students who are inhibited,damaged or restricted are more focused.As an atypical representative of the student group,"average students" are the most easily ignored existence.Their silence,awkward status and dispensable existence all show that average students are not absolutely vulnerable,but their living experience and feelings may not be ideal.Therefore,how to understand "average students" and what kind of survival experience "average students" have in the school field has become the fundamental problem of "average students" research.In this study,"average students" are the group whose academic achievement is stable in the middle,in the middle level of peer group status,and easy to be ignored by teachers.This study attempts to present the survival situation of "average students",explore the survival strategy and the underlying reasons,and on this basis,think about the trap and the way out of "average students".This study takes the "average students" from Class 8(6)of Nanjing N School as a case study.Based on the previous participatory observation and semi-structured interview,7 "average students" are selected as the research objects through purposeful sampling.The thesis mainly includes five chapters: The first chapter shows the living background of "average students" through the sketch of the school and class;The second chapter tries to present the image of "average students" through the background of "average students",self-identity cognition and "me" in the eyes of others,and answers "who is the average students" in the real situation of education.The third chapter focuses on the school life of "average students",aiming to show the diverse living experience of "average students" through "average students" reflection on the relationship between themselves and the environment;The fourth chapter probes into the survival strategies of "average students" and the reasons behind them.The fifth chapter is the rethinking of the problem of "average students",discussing the trap and outlet of "average students".This study found that "average students" in the school survival experience is diverse and lack of homogeneity,more in the state of individual survival.The individualized existence of "average students" also aggravates the possibility of being ignored."Average students" participate in class activities as "outsiders",interact with teachers as "marginal people",and interact with classmates as "differentiated".Based on the rational choice theory,middling "outsider","marginal people" and "differentiation" identity formation,is affected by many factors,the individual preferences and position comfortable form the inner tension of the big class teaching malpractice of stealth repulsion,teacher education decision-making rational balance of input and output of the thrust,the power of the peer group composition of thrust,the external and internal force under the action of thrust force,under the conditions of active intention and passive choice,by the "medium" together with the teachers make a rational choice.
