The high-quality development of tourism in N city has brought great challenges to the professional ability of front-line employees engaged in this industry.Therefore,the teaching objectives of the course Catering Service and Management for the hotel management major in secondary vocational schools emphasize students' practical operation ability and employment competitiveness.Situational teaching method emphasizes that the teaching process is based on the real professional situation,which can meet the teaching objectives and avoid the deviation between industry development and curriculum teaching.Through the practice in M school in N city,the author found that there are many problems in the application of situational teaching method in Catering Service and Management.In order to explore the specific problems,the author first conducted a questionnaire survey on the students majoring in hotel management in M school,and deeply understood the present situation of situational teaching in Catering Service and Management.On this basis,through observing the classroom teaching situation,communicating with students and teachers,and the author's personal teaching practice,the author explores the existing problems.The specific problems are as follows:the teaching design ignores students' ability,it is difficult to create situations,the situation creation is divorced from the real working situation,the form of teaching activities is outdated,the students' participation in the implementation of teaching activities is not high,and the teaching effect is not good.At the same time,the author explores the causes of the problems from three aspects: secondary vocational schools,teachers and students: the lack of attention of the school leadership to the hotel management major leads to the lack of teachers and backward facilities and equipment;Teachers have problems in their own ability and communication with students,which leads to the situation creation leaving the workplace and lack of effective communication with students,resulting in low participation of students in class;Students' weak self-control and poor learning ability lead to poor teaching effect.Finally,in the process of practice in M school,aiming at the existing problems,the author improves the teaching design from three aspects: classroom introduction,new knowledge teaching and summary evaluation,so as to give full play to the advantages of situational teaching,improve students' learning motivation and enthusiasm,and improve teaching effect.
