In this study,part of students and biological teachers from 10 high schools in the Dingxi city were investigated by questionnaire survey and classroom observation.The students' questionnaire is mainly carried out from the following five aspects:laboratory conditions,students' understanding and attitude towards experimental teaching,current situation of experimental teaching,students' performance in experimental classes,and students' experimental ability.The questionnaire for teachers mainly focus on the basic information of teachers,the current situation of biological laboratory,the current situation of biological experiment teaching,the implementation of biological experiment in required part,and the factors affecting the implementation of experiment.Classroom observation was conducted in three high schools to study the current situation of biological experiment teaching of the schools,in view of the problems and defects of them,the author puts forward strategies for improvement.The results of the survey show that: in recent years,high school biology experiment teaching develops rapidly in Dingxi,the teaching conditions have improved a lot,80% of senior high schools are equipped with separate biological laboratory,the instruments and medicines of biological experiment are relatively complete,biology teachers' awareness of the importance of experimental teaching is constantly improving,the students love biological experiment,the atmosphere of biological experiment class is active,these are undoubtedly positive factors for the effective development of biological experiment teaching.However,according to the collation and analysis of the survey data,it is found that the overall situation of biological experiment teaching in Dingxi senior high school is poor,which is mainly reflected in the following aspects:school leaders do not fully understand the importance of biological experiment teaching;the experimenters vary in their majors and degrees;the opening rate of biological laboratories is low;the opening rate of experimental course is low;Low rate of extracurricular biological practice activities;the training of biological teachers' experimental skills is deficient;the teaching concept of teachers is backward,and the teaching mode is single;the evaluation system of experimental teaching is not perfect;students' experimental learning habits and experimental ability need to be improved.In view of the above problems in the experimental teaching,the author puts forward corresponding optimization strategies: school leaders change their ideas,attach importance to biological experiment teaching,strengthen the construction of biological laboratories,arrange experimenters reasonably,improve the opening rate of the laboratory,improve the extracurricular practice rate of biology,and increase the length of experimental classes;strengthen teachers' experimental teaching training,change teachers' teaching concept,improve teachers' experimental teaching ability;assist experimental teaching by multimedia resources;Advocate inquiry-based teaching to cultivate students' inquiry-based consciousness and innovative ability;Strengthen the cultivation of students' experimental habit and ability;establish a relatively perfect experimental assessment system,which reflects the comprehensive assessment of students' experimental ability.
