Along with the unceasing development of information technology,the information society's characteristic is more and more obvious.The faster the information dissemination is,the faster we have to read it.For students,the speed and method with which they get information has become more demanding.For teachers,our reading teaching should focus on the category of "reading speed" and teach students "reading at a certain speed".It's not just about teaching a speed reading method,but also about teaching a reading strategy.According to the Chinese Language Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2011 edition),students in the third stage(Grade 5 and Grade 6)should "read silently at a certain speed,and the speed is at least 300 words per minute when they read general materials silently." In addition,it also puts forward a specific standard for the total amount of extra-curricular reading of this stage,"Expand the reading area.The total amount of extra-curricular reading should not be less than 1million words." This sets a very clear target of the reading speed and reading amount for the high-grade students of primary school.The high grade of primary school is the key stage of the development of students' reading ability.They already have a certain amount of literacy,and can basically read content on their own,which is a good basis for improving reading speed.In the autumn of 2019,all the primary school students from Grades 1 to Grade 6could use the unified version of the language textbook.One of the highlights of the unified textbook is the unique "Reading Strategy Unit",which directly changes the teaching of "strategy" from recessive target to dominant target.In the book of Grade 5Unit 2,"Reading Strategy Unit" is called as reading with a certain speed.Reading teaching has always been an important part of Chinese teaching.Now,strategy teaching has become one of the hot fields of educational research at home and abroad in recent years.How to combine strategy teaching with reading teaching is the direction that more and more first-line teachers are thinking over and trying.After reading a lot of literature books,and carrying out investigation,research and interviews at school,the author found that the teaching of reading strategy about reading speed is relatively lacking in the teaching practice in ordinary times.And also there are not a lot of research on this aspect either.The author hopes to put forward the suggestions of the reading strategy teaching to help the other teachers who need them.The main contents of this topic are as follows: The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces the research questions,the theory,the definition and the research methods of reading speed and its influencing factors at home and abroad;the second chapter is based on the author's questionnaire and interview of a primary school in Chongqing,and analyzes the current situation of students' reading speed and teachers' teaching of reading speed.And the third chapter puts forward some suggestions on the reading strategy teaching of reading speed.The forth chapter discusses the teaching of "Reading Speed Strategy Unit" with the example of the unified textbook,grade five unit 2.
