In order to improve the quality and level of running schools in China and promote the development of higher education.In recent years,China has begun to establish and build a teacher development organization in Colleges and universities to promote the improvement of national teaching quality and serve the group of teachers,that is,the teacher development center.Because the teacher development center of colleges and universities in China has been established for a short time and is in the early stage of organizational growth,there is a relative lack of practical construction experience.Therefore,teacher development centers in many colleges and universities in China can not give full play to their real functions and roles.Promoting the construction of university teacher development center in China has become a hot topic in the field of higher education management in recent years.It is also a subject with both theoretical and practical significance.This paper consists of five parts.The first part is the introduction,which introduces the proposal of the problem,the purpose and significance of the research.The second part is the theoretical basis.The third part discusses the construction orientation and work functions of teacher development centers in Colleges and universities in China by using the method of literature research.The fourth part investigates the current situation of the construction of Teacher Development Center in several colleges and universities in H city by means of questionnaire.The fifth part analyzes the existing problems and difficulties of teacher development centers in Colleges and universities in China.The main problems are: the training projects of teacher development centers can not meet the real needs of teachers;The training form of teacher development center is lack of novelty and single;The proportion of subject areas of trainers is uneven;Some teachers’ participation enthusiasm is not high;The organizational structure of teacher development center is not independent enough;The staff of the teacher development center lack professional skills,etc.The sixth part analyzes the reasons for the problems in the operation of the teacher development center.The reasons are: the teacher development center is in the growth period and lacks construction experience;The teacher development center lacks research on the needs of teachers;Colleges and universities do not pay enough attention to the teacher development center;The management mechanism is chaotic and the division of labor of managers is unclear;The motivation of teachers to participate in the activities of teacher development center is insufficient.The seventh part puts forward some suggestions on the construction of teacher development centers in Colleges and universities in China.Government departments should actively improve relevant policies,promote the construction of the center,and establish a construction Steering Committee according to the actual construction of the local university teacher development center.Colleges and universities should make clear the orientation of their teacher development center;Improve the organizational structure system of teacher development center and give independent management power;Provide financial and financial support.The teacher development center should carry out in-depth demand research and adjust its work according to teachers’ feedback;Enrich the content of activities,broaden the scope of services,and mobilize teachers’ enthusiasm for participation;Improve the quality of staff.Teachers should realize the importance of the center,establish the concept of lifelong learning and actively participate in activities.
