Chinese textbooks are not only the essence of a nation's language and culture,but also the embodiment of the dominant social values.Chinese textbooks have the characteristics of conveying the truth,and they can be used as the carrier of knowledge as well as the carrier of values.Children are an important part of society.In a certain sense,the images of children in Chinese textbooks reflect the expectations of the country and society for children.Paying attention to the images of children in Chinese textbooks has certain practical significance.Therefore,this research aims to take the children's image in the Ministry-edited elementary school Chinese textbooks as the starting point,and use the content analysis method to analyze the children's views contained in the textbooks by establishing the categories of children's image analysis.The study found that the primary school Chinese textbooks edited by the Ministry of Education mainly portrayed the image of children with vivid personality and innocence,and the positive and upward value orientation conveyed is conducive to the establishment of healthy values for primary school students.The image of children in the textbooks is highly compatible with the modern view of children,which shows respect for children's dominant position,attention to children's nature,and respect for children's independent personality.The images of children shaped in textbooks keep pace with the times,presenting children with independent personalities in the new era.At the same time,there are certain limitations in the shaping of children's images in textbooks,such as the unbalanced gender ratio of males and females,and the existence of certain gender stereotypes.This study puts forward corresponding suggestions for the compilation and use of textbooks.For textbook writers,they should downplay gender differences and balance the ratio of males and females;enrich textbook selections,pay attention to promoting traditional culture;pay attention to children's growth and restore children's nature.For teachers,they should use textbooks reasonably to improve their ability to interpret texts;appropriately expand the background of characters and interpret children's images in multiple ways;dialectically analyze moral behaviors and implement the important task of children's education.
