Reform and opening up have promoted the continuous and in-depth development of China's urbanization process. In this process,a large number of rural surplus labor force can flow into cities in the form of individuals or groups. At the same time, with the vigorous development of the socialist market economy with Chinese characteristics, farmers entering cities have more diversified choices in their ways of making a living. Some farmers can rely on doing business to enter cities and maintain urban life.Scholars have always paid close attention to the adaptation and localization of urban farmers.Different scholars have studied the urban adaptation strategies of urban farmers from different angles. The research of farmers from the same region or from the same region is less comprehensive, but the research of farmers from the same region or from the same group is really focused. In particular, some migrant farmers no longer appear in the city as migrant workers, but as self-employed operators, and then integrate into the city by constantly expanding their social relationship network in the city. This paper takes Shanghe, who is engaged in hardware business in Dongying,Shandong Province,as the research object, and shows how they take root and develop in the city by writing their life course of large-scale influx into Dongying City since the 1980s,so as to focus on their group identity and localization discussion. Here, the collective strength of Shanghe people is an important factor affecting their urban adaptation, which is reflected not only in their daily life, but also in their business contacts. In the process of moving in,the individuals in it have experienced from re constructing themselves and forming self-identity to group identity dominated by fellow townsmen and business-related businesses. From self-identity to group identity, they take geography and karma as the carrier and form a special group identity with the help of interaction. In the process of their localization, group identity presents a trend from construction to strengthening, and finally to digestion. When the degree of localization is deepening and the business space, business and social relations are changing, the group identity is weakening.Although this is an inevitable process,it does not mean that the dissolution of group identity is a negative result for them, which shows that it is no longer the only dependence for Shanghe people in real life.Because of their continuous extension in the local social network, the original interpersonal relationship has been gradually embedded into the texture of the city. This master's thesis consists of six parts. The introduction introduces the research background and significance, and combs the relevant literature on group identity and localization. The first chapter discusses the concept of Shanghe people and the background of their moving to Dongying. The second chapter introduces the structure and form of Shanghe people. The third chapter focuses on their process from self-identity to group identity from the perspective of social mutual construction theory. The fourth chapter analyzes the reasons for the dissolution of Shanghe people's group identity from three aspects:spatial transfer, business transformation and relationship dilution. In the conclusion part, the author connects the group identity of Shanghe people with their localization process, and believes that the group identity based on fellow townsmen and linked by peers is only a process of their localization practice. When the individual social relations become stable and gradually integrate into the city, the group identity as the "threshold" stage will disappear.
