With the advent of the network information age,fragmented and fast-food reading is favored by people,resulting in the decline of students' reading level.The popularity of electronic products not only wastes valuable time,but also has an adverse effect on the cultivation of students' logical thinking.Therefore,it is urgent for high school students to attach importance to the whole book reading.In order to promote the development of the whole book reading,many scholars have carried out active exploration and research.However,there are still more or less problems in the actual teaching situation of each school.Therefore,the whole book reading teaching needs continuous efforts.This paper firstly discusses the connotation of reading the whole book,and points out the necessity and significance of carrying out the whole book reading at present,combined with the importance of the Chinese curriculum standards to the whole book reading and the trend of reading the whole book.Secondly,the author conducted a survey on the current situation of reading the whole book among teachers and students in Gaoyou Middle School,Gaoyou No.1 Middle School and Gaoyou No.2 Middle School by combining questionnaire survey and interview,and concluded that the reasons for the severe reading of the whole book are as follows:Lack of good reading environment,the school has not developed the whole book reading curriculum,students and teachers have not formed the correct whole book reading consciousness and so on.Finally,the author puts forward suggestions and specific strategies for improvement from the reading environment of the whole book,students and teachers.First,improve the reading environment so that the school can pay attention to and improve the curriculum of the whole book reading.Secondly,students should form a correct awareness of reading the whole book,cultivate their interest in reading,exercise their willpower in reading,and adopt appropriate methods to read the whole book.Finally,in implementing specific strategies for reading the whole book,teachers should take students' reading interests as the starting point to build a reading community for the whole book,recommend reading lists,make reading plans,give guidance to reading methods and deepen reading evaluation.It is hoped that the theory of whole book reading can be effectively put into practice in order to implement "whole book reading" in the real sense in high school.
