“Whole Book Reading” has been a hot topic in Chinese academic circles in recent years.“Whole Book Reading” is clearly regarded as the course content in the Chinese textbooks for senior high schools compiled by the Ministry.Although the concept of“Whole Book Reading” is not clearly put forward in the junior high school Chinese textbooks compiled by the Ministry,the reading of famous books has always been the curriculum content of junior high school,and it is very necessary to implement the teaching of reading the whole book in junior high school.Although there are many explorations in the Whole Book Reading ideology,curriculum construction,implementation strategies and case studies,and achieved fruitful results.However,as far as the study section is concerned,there are more studies on senior high schools,and less studies on junior high schools and primary schools.Most of the case studies are about Chinese famous books,while few researches on foreign famous books.Therefore,based on the existing theory of the Whole Book Reading research,combined with the actual investigation,this paper divides the Whole Book Reading teaching process into four stages: planning preparation,independent reading,discussion and presentation,summary and evaluation,puts forward corresponding teaching strategies.And a complete reading teaching case of Jane Eyre is designed for the reference of front-line teachers.Firstly,the related contents of Whole Book Reading are summarized.This paper defines the concept of Whole Book Reading,explores its theoretical basis and expounds the value of Whole Book Reading.Secondly,the present situation of junior high school students' Whole Book Reading is investigated and analyzed.This paper investigates the current situation of students' reading and teachers' teaching by means of questionnaires and interviews,and analyzes the survey results.It is concluded that there are some problems,such as the overall low reading volume of teachers and students,the need to strengthen the sequence of teaching implementation,the lack of systematic and effective reading guidance,and the single teaching activities and evaluation methods.Thirdly,based on the investigation and previous research on the Whole Book Reading teaching strategy,this paper tries to put forward the Whole Book Reading teaching strategy.The teaching process of Whole Book Reading is divided into four stages:planning preparation,independent reading,discussion and presentation,summary and evaluation.The strategies of planning preparation stage are recommending reading version,guiding reading method and making reading plan.The strategies of independent reading stage are annotation note-taking first reading,task list rereading.The strategies of discussion and presentation stage are diversified activities promote all-round development and cooperative learning realizes common progress.The strategies of evaluation stage are diversification of evaluation subjects and flexible use of various evaluation methods.Finally,based on the overall teaching strategies,taking Jane Eyre as an example,the teaching design of reading the whole book is carried out.This paper analyzes the reading value of Jane Eyre,and recommends the version suitable for students to read.Then puts forward the learning objectives that students need to achieve when reading Jane Eyre,and plans the overall course arrangement.The class examples of the overall understanding class,the language appreciation class,the character evaluation class and the special report class are designed.
