With the development of social economy and the continuous advancement of the new curriculum reform in geography,local geography has gradually become an important research field and developing trend in geography teaching.The “Compulsory Education Geography Curriculum Standard(2011 Edition)” also stipulates that local geography is a significant part of the junior high school geography curriculum,in that the development and utilization of local geography curriculum resources have played a salient role in enriching junior geography curriculum resources,enhancing students' interest and learning quality in geography,raising the love of the motherland and their hometowns,and promoting teachers' professional ability and educational concepts.This study takes the resources of local geography in junior high school as the research object,and the city of Tengzhou as the specific research area to discuss and study,covering its existing exploitation and utilization of local geography resources,analysis of the actual problems,and reasonable suggestions for amelioration.At the same time,according to the the current used geography textbooks,the research summarizes the basis for the exploiting of local geography curriculum resources in Tengzhou,displays part of the content that is suitable for the teaching practice,and provides a preliminary design of teaching cases.In this study,questionnaire method and interview method were used to investigate teachers and students in five junior high schools in Tengzhou.First,the results found that there are several problems in the exploitation and utilization of the current local geography curriculum resources in Tengzhou.The main problems in exploiting lies in the inaccurate grasp of relevant concepts due to the lack of knowledge of local geography among teachers and students,and the insufficient capability of teachers for developing the local geography resources.The short of support from schools and education authorities,and tight time and lack of energy of teachers are problematic as well.Second,as for the problems in utilizing,the using patterns are monotonous,lacking of systematicness and interactivity;the exam-oriented system and pressure for further studies restrict the utilization of local curriculum resources,and the teaching of local geography is superficial without key knowledge explained in depth.In view of the above problems,the following improvement strategies are proposed in combination with the actual situation.In terms of exploitation,we should improve teachers' and students' mastery over basic knowledge and basic principles of local geography in multi-channel ways,increase educational investment and support for strengthening teachers' abilities for developing curriculum resources,and appropriately expand the scale of the teaching team to improve the quality and reducing the burden of teaching.Then,in the field of utilization,we should enrich the ways of using local geography curriculum resources,complete the evaluation mechanism with more attention to the study of it,and control the depth and breadth of local geography knowledge.
