Since the 21 st century,the educational concept of STEAM(Science,Technology,Engineering,Arts and Mathematics)has gradually attracted the attention of Chinese scholars.It requires that interdisciplinary knowledge including science,technology,engineering,arts,and mathematics be organically intergrated to cultivate students' ability to use multidisciplinary knowledge to solve problems in real life.In addition,The General Technology Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools,2017,also emphasizes the similar concept that it is important to enhance students' multidisciplinary core competence and especially puts forward requirements on how to cultivate students' innovation ability and practical operation ability.Therefore,this study attempts to intergrate the STEAM education concept into the teaching of The General Technology Curriculum for High School,which adopts project-based teaching method to cultivate students' multidisciplinary core competence through interdisciplinary learning and exploration.Firstly,after combing the research status of STEAM education,The General Technology Curriculum for High School and the combination of them,this study attempted to preliminarily design a new teaching practice of The General Technology Curriculum for High School based on the STEAM education concept combined with characteristics of The General Technology Curriculum for High School by referring to the STEM teaching design model proposed by Yu ? Hu(2015).Then,this study selected class 1 of senior one of a senior high school in Guangzhou as the research object,and taked the making course of multi-functional desk lamp based on STEAM education concept as teaching project around which carrying out three rounds of behavioural research.Before every the rounds of teaching project,the author had understood the students' learning and the teaching status of The General Technology Curriculum in the school through questionnaire and interview methods;the author summarized the merits of teaching and constantly adjust the possible shortcomings in class;after class,the author completed the formative evaluation scale together with two other teachers,so as to optimize the teaching projects and complete the instructional design mode.After that,through the student interview,teacher observation,formative evaluation,summative evaluation and the comparison before and after the questionnaire,it is found that integrating the STEAM education concept into The General Technology Curriculum for High School can enable students to master the interdisciplinary knowledge required to complete the project much more effectively,and significantly improve students' ability to find and solve problems;in the process of solving problems,students' team spirit is easier to be stimulated,their team cooperation ability is significantly enhanced,their aesthetic consciousness is easier to be awakened,and their ability to create beauty is also improved.Finally,on the basis of STEM teaching design model proposed by Yu sheng quan and Hu Xiang(2015),through three rounds of behavioural research,this study puts forward a more detailed and implementable teaching design mode of The General Technology Curriculum for High School integrated with STEAM education concept.Through this study,the author believes that it is feasible to integrate the steam education concept into The General Technology Curriculum for High School,which is significant in practical teaching.It is specifically reflected in the following three aspects: firstly,in terms of teaching design,a more perfect teaching design mode of The General Technology Curriculum for High School based on STEAM education concept is constructed;Secondly,in terms of teaching practice,through three rounds of behavioural research,it is found that students' problem-solving ability,group cooperation ability and aesthetic ability have been improved;Thirdly,in terms of teaching projects,the project design,project organization,project evaluation and other aspects have been improved,which provides a certain reference for the project teaching of The General Technology Curriculum for High School.In addition,the instructional design model constructed in this study is only applicable to the school where the author got an internship.There is certain limitation in the promotion of other schools.In addition,due to the epidemic of the novel coronavirus,the behavioural research has a relatively short cycle,which has a certain negative impact on the teaching effect.Therefore,the author believes that the behavioural research cycle can be appropriately extended in future research to eliminate the impact of accidental events,teaching project can be increased to enhance the operability of research results,so as to further improve the teaching design model,so that the research results can be popularized and applied in a larger scale.
