A Qualitative Research On Mothers Of Stress Of Autistic Children

Autism,as a generalized developmental disorder,has no medical treatment.In 2006,the second national disability sampling survey showed that autism has become the biggest disease of children's mental disability in china.China has not yet carried out a nationwide epidemiological survey.There is no accurate statistics for autistic children.In recent years,autism has experienced a shift from rare diseases to epidemics,and the prevalence of autistic children has increased significantly.According to the report of China autism education and rehabilitation industry report published in 2015,2 million of the 0-14 children in China have autism.When it comes to the problem of autistic children,the focus of our attention is often on diagnostic and therapy,while ignoring the heavy pressure that parents take in the long-term care process.For many families,autism is an unbearable disease.Most of the responsibility of caring for autistic children falls on mothers.What kind of stress experience does the mother of autistic children have in her care?What kind of pain and action do mothers who are in the mire of pressure can't get rid of?This is what I want to know.In this study,6 autistic children's mothers were selected as the research objects in the C institution of Shanghai by qualitative research method,and the collected data were systematically collated and exploratory analyzed.Based on the phenomenology of four themes of life world as analysis guide,the study explores the mother pressure of an autistic child in space,physical and mental,interpersonal and time themes,analyze their pain and action the under pressure,and makes a brief analysis on the influencing factors of mother stress experience with autism children.This study finds that mother stress experience of autistic children varies in different subject dimensions.In the space of the pressure,the mothers experience more anxiety and burden;In the physical and mental pressure,the mother's stress experience changes with the cognitive;In interpersonal relationship,initially closed and escape,but the family of mutual support for Alliance gives the mother warm;In the time,the concerns for child's future place become the biggest pain in the mother,and with worry and hope the mothers started actions and efforts.Finally,this study gives some suggestions that social work should build supportive networks for mothers and families of autistic children,and to improve the survival of the group in the current policy environment.
