Research On The Application Of Group Work In Improving The Interpersonal Ability Of People With Mild Intellectual Disability

With the continuous improvement of my country’s social work service system,social work for persons with disabilities has also made rapid progress.As a special group of people with disabilities,people with mild intellectual disabilities have also received more and more attention from the general public.People with mild intellectual disability have insufficient interpersonal skills due to physical,psychological and other factors,and there are many problems in interpersonal communication.The emergence of social work can help people with mild intellectual disability improve their interpersonal skills from a new perspective,thereby enabling people with mild intellectual disability.Better adapt to the needs of society and promote its healthy growth.During the internship in the Social Welfare Institute of Z City,the author found that the problems of people with mild intellectual disabilities in the Social Welfare Institute of Z City mainly focused on cognition,emotion and communication through needs assessment.Therefore,the author combines the advantage perspective and the theory of empowerment,adopts participatory observation method,interview method and questionnaire survey method,starting from the three dimensions of "interpersonal cognition ability","emotional control ability",and "communication and expression ability".Six people with mild intellectual disabilities were selected,and a total of five group activities were carried out.After the group activity,the group members were evaluated through unstructured interviews and the "Group Members Interpersonal Competence Assessment Questionnaire",and the results showed that the interpersonal skills of the group members have been significantly improved.After the service,the author summarized the experience in four aspects: the application of theory,the use of group methods and skills,the work requirements of different stages of the group,and the service needs of the group members.At the same time,the specificity of the service object and the evaluation of service effectiveness were also carried out.And reflected on the consolidation of service effectiveness.Finally,the author puts forward relevant suggestions to improve the interpersonal skills of people with mild intellectual disability from the personal level,welfare home level,social level,and social work level.From the personal level,people with mild intellectual disability should actively cooperate with rehabilitation and maintain self-esteem and self-confidence;From the perspective of welfare homes,the resources in the hospital should be integrated to enrich the spiritual life of people with mild intellectual disabilities;from the social perspective,all levels of society should be called on to accept people with mild intellectual disabilities and create a caring and understanding social atmosphere;from the perspective of social work,Should comprehensively use various social work methods to give full play to the advantages of social work.
