At present,China has entered the stage of high-quality development,promoting the green transformation of production and lifestyle,increasingly become an important direction of economic and social development.This paper studies the spatio-temporal change characteristics of the green innovation ability level of the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River,finds out the main factors restricting its green innovation development,and puts forward some pertinent suggestions for promoting the green innovation ability,it is helpful to the implementation of the new development concept of the urban agglomeration,and is also of great significance to the promotion of highquality development in the central region.In this paper,taking the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River as the research area,the related concepts and theories are discussed on the basis of literature review,and a Comprehensive Evaluation Index System of Green Innovation ability is constructed,using entropy method,tyre index,improved gravity model,social network analysis,Granger causality test,grey correlation analysis and Tobit regression model,etc.,this paper measures the level of green innovation ability of 28 cities in the urban agglomeration from 2008 to 2018,analyzes its spatiotemporal evolution characteristics,and explores the influencing factors of the development and change of green innovation ability.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Spatio-temporal evolution of green innovation ability of urban agglomerationr.(1)time series change characteristics: from 2008 to 2018,the green innovation ability of urban agglomeration increased obviously,but the level is still not high;The level of green innovation ability of the three sub-urban agglomerations is consistent with that of the whole,and has obvious progress.The level of Wuhan metropolitan area is the highest,the next is the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration,and the lowest is the Urban agglomeration around Poyang Lake;The level of green innovation ability in 28 cities is also increasing obviously,and all of them have different degrees of development.(2)spatial differentiation:from 2008 to 2018,the green innovation ability of the urban agglomeration showed a decreasing pattern in spatial distribution with the provincial capital city as the high-value center,the level of green innovation ability of each city has been improved.(3)evolution of regional differences: the regional differences of the green innovation ability level of the urban agglomeration show a trend of fluctuation and decline,and the internal differences of the urban agglomeration are far greater than the differences among the urban agglomerations;In the study period,the regional difference of green innovation ability of Wuhan metropolitan area is the biggest,the next is the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration,the last is the Urban agglomeration around Poyang Lake.(4)spatial connection characteristics: the level of green innovation spatial connection among cities of urban agglomeration is increasing,and the green innovation spatial connection network is becoming more and more complex.(2)Interaction analysis of green innovation ability subsystem of urban agglomeration.Based on the level values of the two subsystems of green innovation resources and green innovation output of 28 cities in the urban agglomeration,the relationship between green innovation resources and green innovation output is explored by means of Granger causality test and grey relational analysis,it is proved that there is a close relationship between green innovation resources and green innovation output.(3)Analysis of influencing factors on green innovation ability of urban agglomeration.As for the Urban Agglomerations in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River,the level of resource agglomeration,the scale of consumption market and the ability of government regulation and control can promote the green innovation ability,but the level of industrialization can hinder it,and the level of opening-up is not obvious Further analysis of sub-urban agglomerations shows that the mechanism of influencing factors on the development of green innovation ability of each sub-urban agglomerations is different from that of the whole.
