| Since the reform and opening up,China has deeply participated in the global value chain and undertaken the important processing links of global goods. With the rapid development of import and export trade,China has become the largest trading country of goods in the world. However,in the early stage of the development of trade, relying on the advantage of labor cost,China has undertaken the transfer of many highly polluting industries, resulting in a rapid increase in the emission of various pollutants, seriously endangering the lives and health of the people.it brings severe challenges to the construction of ecological civilization and the sustainable development of economy.Nowadays, under the new situation of comprehensively promoting highquality development strategy, how to coordinate the relationship between trade and environment, and how to promote the green transformation and sustainable development of China’s import and export trade is still an important topic for the government and academic circles to discuss.Since the environmental Kuznets curve was put forward in 1993,the debate on the relationship between trade and environment has never stopped, and it is still the focus of research.Based on the theoretical analysis of trade and environment, this paper matches the import and export trade data of 270prefecture-level cities in China from2004 to 2013 with the average annual API value of each prefecture-level city, and studies the environmental effects of urban import and export trade in China from the perspectives of time and space.Empirical study found that import trade can improve the level of local environmental pollution, while export trade will have a negative impact;the environmental pollution effect of trade shows a significant spatial spillover effect.Further research shows that the environmental pollution effect of import and export trade shows obvious regional heterogeneity, and the import trade in the eastern and central regions can improve the environment to a great extent, which is not true in the western region;the inhibitory effect of import trade on environmental pollution in the north is greater than that in the south;due to the influence of natural conditions and other factors, the impact of export trade in the north on environmental pollution in surrounding cities is also greater than that in southern cities. The research of this paper has important theoretical and practical significance. This paper theoretically studies and analyzes the relationship between import and export trade and environmental pollution, and provides some new ideas for follow-up research. From a practical point of view, this study can provide green development direction for the sustainable development of foreign trade enterprises, and provide reasonable suggestions for local governments to improve trade structure and optimize environmental policies. |
