As a primary energy with huge production and consumption in China, coal plays an important role in social and economic development and people’s life.Due to the high-risk characteristics of coal mining enterprises, coal production is often accompanied by a high accident rate, which seriously threatens the life safety of miners and damages the production and economic benefits of coal mining enterprises.Safety in production is above all else.Ensuring the safety production of coal mines has always been the focus of the government and enterprises. In recent years,in order to curb the high accident rate of coal mining enterprises, the state has carried out safety inspection and rectification for coal mining enterprises and achieved good results, but small casualty accidents still occur frequently, and coal mine safety management still needs to be strengthened.Existing studies believe that unsafe behavior is an important inducement for coal mine safety accidents. Therefore, how to effectively curb miners’ unsafe behavior is very important for coal mine safety management.A large number of studies have confirmed that leadership style plays an important role in promoting miners’ safe production.Paternalistic leadership,as a leadership style with local characteristics, widely exists in Chinese enterprises. Many scholars have done a lot of research on the relationship between paternalistic leadership and employee behavior. However, there is less research on the relationship between paternalistic leadership and unsafe behavior. The research on introducing paternalistic leadership into the field of coal mine safety management is even less. The influence mechanism of paternalistic leadership on miners’ unsafe behavior needs to be explored. This paper combs the relevant literature at home and abroad.Based on the social exchange theory, organizational justice theory, resource conservation theory and emotional event theory,it is considered that the characteristics of care, virtue and autocracy in paternalistic leadership style will affect the miners’ work behavior by affecting the miners’ feelings of organizational justice. Therefore, the perceived organizational justice is introduced as an intermediary variable. As an important emotional trait of individuals, emotional intelligence will also affect the working behavior of miners to a certain extent. The higher the level of emotional intelligence, the stronger the ability to identify, manage and use emotions, which can better transform positive emotions into positive working behavior. Therefore, emotional intelligence is introduced as a regulating variable.Based on the existing research, this paper brings the perceived organizational justice and emotional intelligence into the research framework, and constructs a theoretical relationship model for the specific impact mechanism of paternalistic leadership on miners’ unsafe behavior.Based on the theoretical model,a questionnaire survey was conducted for front-line miners in coal mining enterprises.Based on the collected sample data,a structural equation model of the relationship between paternalistic leadership and unsafe behavior was constructed to empirically test the influence path between the main variables in this paper, and the bootstrap mediation effect test method was used to test the mediation effect of perceived organizational justice, the hierarchical regression analysis of SPSS23.0 software is used to test the regulatory effect of emotional intelligence, and finally verify the theoretical hypothesis proposed above. The empirical results show that benevolent leadership and moral leadership in paternalistic leadership style can directly and significantly affect miners’ unsafe behavior, while authoritarian leadership can significantly and positively affect miners’ unsafe behavior.Perceived organizational justice has a significant mediating effect between paternalistic leadership and miners’ unsafe behavior.Specifically, perceived organizational justice can partially mediate the influence path of benevolent leadership, moral leadership and authoritarian leadership on miners’ unsafe behavior. At the same time, emotional intelligence plays a significant regulatory role between perceived organizational justice and miners’ unsafe behavior.High emotional intelligence can enhance the negative effect of perceived organizational justice on miners’ unsafe behavior.According to the empirical research results, this paper puts forward corresponding management suggestions from the perspectives of improving leadership style, enhancing perceived organizational fairness and cultivating miners’ emotional intelligence.Managers of coal mining enterprises should pay attention to improving their moral cultivation, care and help miners’ work and life, and try to avoid authoritarian leadership.Improve miners’ perception of organizational justice by creating a good and fair organizational atmosphere.Cultivate and improve the emotional intelligence of miners through emotional monitoring and training.Through the above aspects to reduce the unsafe behavior of miners,in order to provide some reference for the safety management of coal mining enterprises.
