With the rapid development of the whole economy and society, the contradiction between oil resources, ecological environment and the development of automobile industry is becoming more and more prominent.Vigorous development of new energy automobile industry has become an inevitable choice to alleviate the contradiction, which is highly valued by all countries and is promoting profound changes in the development mode of automobile industry.Developed countries and organizations, led by the United States and the European Union, have promoted the transformation of the electrification of automobiles and introduced many policies and laws and regulations to fully support the overall transformation of the new energy vehicle industry. In the face of the transformation of the global automotive industry into electric transformation,China’s new energy vehicle industry is also responding very quickly and occupying a certain advantage. It is expected that by 2035,China’s automotive industry will basically realize the transformation of electrification. After more than 20 years of development, the capacity and overall market scale of China’s new energy vehicle industry have been significantly improved.Since 2015,when the annual production and sales of new energy vehicles ranked first in the world, the annual production and sales have ranked first in the world for seven consecutive years, and by the end of 2021,China’s new energy vehicle stock had reached a total of 7.84 million units. In the face of an increasingly competitive international environment, although China is the largest new energy vehicle market at this stage, there is still a gap between China and developed Western countries in terms of industrial base, innovation capacity, and sales and service. Therefore,it is important to study the current situation of electrification transformation of China’s automotive industry and understand the specific international competitiveness of this industry for the selection and adjustment of the industrial strategy of new energy vehicles.Based on the clarification of relevant concepts and basic theories of new energy vehicles, this thesis studies the policies, international competitiveness and relevant indicators of competitiveness evaluation of the new energy vehicle industry at home and abroad. Then the current situation of China’s new energy vehicle industry is introduced in terms of development history, market scale, industry chain composition and exports. Finally, the Porter’s "diamond model" is improved by the relevant indicators of the driving force of the new energy vehicle industry, and on this basis, the evaluation system of the overall international competitiveness of the new energy vehicle industry is constructed, including six primary indicators: factor conditions, market demand, related and supporting industries, industrial strategic structure and competition, government and opportunities, and The second-level indicators are refined.Factor analysis was used to quantitatively analyze 10 indicators of 25 countries, and the relevant factor scores of each country were calculated. The results show that China’s overall international competitive advantage in the new energy vehicle industry is strong, the overall total sales volume is at the forefront of the world, and an overall production structure covering the entire industrial chain of upstream, midstream and downstream has been established, but there is still room for overall improvement in many aspects such as policy orientation, core technology capability, infrastructure construction and supporting talent training.Based on the results of the above analysis, this article puts forward relevant suggestions on how to improve the international competitiveness of China’s new energy vehicle industry, including the formulation of reasonable policies and administrative regulations to improve the policy guidance of the new energy vehicle industry;the integration of technical resources through multiple channels to improve the R&D and innovation capabilities of enterprises, thereby improving the technical competitiveness of the industry;more reasonable and scientific planning and construction of supporting facilities to further promote the development of the new energy industry;increase the training of higher technical talents and introduce high-quality technical talents to ensure further improvement of the industry’s competitiveness.
