This study based on the normalized epidemic prevention and control of social background,in view of the old dynamic ascending community public space design research. The first defense line for epidemic prevention and control is the community. In a special period, many problems have been exposed in the old community public space, which need to be solved urgently. The necessity and urgency of regular prevention and control have brought new concerns to the renewal and transformation of community public space. This study will start from the practical needs of residents, improve the ability of public space to cope with unexpected public health events, pay attention to the health of residents at the physiological, psychological and social levels, and create a dynamic community public space. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction. On the basis of clarifying the background, significance and innovation of the research on the public space of old communities in the period of epidemic normalization, specifies the content and methodology of the study, and then derives the framework of the study; The second chapter is theoretical overview and case study, which elaborates the conceptual elements and theoretical foundations related to this study, sorts out the development process of relevant research at home and abroad, and distills and summarizes the desirable features of design concepts, design methods, design results and other merits of excellent practical cases; The third chapter conducts research on the practice sites by means of fieldwork, questionnaires and interviews with residents, points out the challenges faced by public spaces in old communities under the background of normalization of epidemic and the contradictions with residents’ daily life, taps into the practical needs of residents, proposes design principles for reshaping the vitality of public spaces in old communities and universal renewal strategies under the background of normalization of prevention and control on the basis of theoretical research, and takes into account the overall needs of public spaces under different levels of epidemic prevention and control. The fourth chapter is about specific design practices, which will improve the ability of public spaces to cope with public health events; The fourth chapter is presents the specific design practice, which combines the theoretical research and design strategies with the overall planning and deepening of nodes, and puts the strategies into practice to create healthy, vibrant, sustainable and inclusive community public spaces; The fifth chapter summarizes and reflects the whole research, and puts forward the prospect. This study hopes to achieve the purpose of creating an elastic epidemic prevention space and rejuvenating the space in multiple dimensions,so as to assist prevention by design and provide new ideas for the renewal of public space in old communities oriented by responding to sudden public health events.
