Research On Design Strategy Of Public Space Micro-renewal In Old Urban Communities

After the rapid development of Chinese cities in the past three decades,the completion of the construction of new urban areas and the decline of old urban areas have become common conditions in the development of contemporary cities.Old communities in the cities are facing the problem of material aging and structural and functional decline that have existed for many years after its built-up.The old communities are affected by the planning pattern,the lack of functions,environmental degradation,and aging of public facilities.The scene of low vitality,weakened neighbourhood relations,environmental degradation,obsolescence and decadence in communities need to be changed urgently.The urban micro-renewal movement strives to enhance the vitality of the city by means of simple,easy-operating renewal and small-scale environmental renovation in the city.With the object of the urban micro-renewal movement gradually shifting to the community,the community micro-renewal activities gradually play a role in the renewal and transformation of old communities.The practice and theory of urban micro-renewal has also attracted wide attention in the academic circles.Through the combing of the theory and practice of “micro-renewal”,this paper will explore the strategy of updating and transforming the public space of the old community in the context of micro-renewal.Using literature review,field research,case study,comparative research,system analysis and other methods,from the two aspects of functional micro-update and environmental micro-update,the paper discusses the public space micro-update strategy of urban old communities.
