Currently, the constant growth in building volume and height in high-density construction sites presents difficulties for the surrounding environment. The term "spatial oppression" describes the pressure that people feel when they are surrounded by tall buildings. There are few viewpoints on studying and designing several landscape aspects of high-density residential complexes, but researchers both domestically and internationally frequently analyze a single landscape element from a research perspective.Based on the aforementioned research background, this article investigates through experiments the relationship between various landscape elements and spatial oppression, investigates high-density residential landscape design strategies to reduce spatial oppression, and conducts design practices for the Rongsheng Huayu City residential area in Xuzhou City.By combing the current status of research on high-density housing and spatial oppression at home and abroad, the interaction between multiple landscape elements and spatial oppression was analysed in depth: firstly, using high-density housing in Xuzhou City,Jiangsu Province as the experimental sample site,152 subjects assessed spatial oppression by means of an online questionnaire;secondly, the landscape elements affecting spatial oppression were screened, and nine landscape elements were Finally,SPSS 23.0 correlation analysis was used to explore whether there was a correlation between the nine landscape elements and spatial oppression, and stepwise linear regression analysis was used to explore the specific index factors affecting spatial oppression. The main conclusions of the study are:(1)there is a correlation between the seven landscape elements and the alleviation of spatial oppression;(2)the area of ground paving and the area of vegetation have the most significant influence on the alleviation of spatial oppression;(3)there is no significant correlation between the ratio of the sky to the screen and the time of acceptable sunlight for residents and spatial oppression, and they cannot be used as important landscape elements to alleviate spatial oppression.Through literature review and empirical research, the design strategy of high-density residential landscape design to alleviate spatial oppression has been developed. This thesis focuses on the creation of landscape space, strengthening the aesthetics of landscape space and the application of other elements. The thesis focuses on the creation of landscape space and applies six design suggestions to the design site. The research conclusion of this article contributes significantly to the study of high-density residential landscape design for the purpose of reducing spatial compression, enriches the theory of high-density residential design, and suggests high-density residential design approaches based on the research conclusion in order to offer useful recommendations and direction for reducing spatial compression. Finally, using the Rongsheng Huayu City residential area in Xuzhou City as a design sample, the residential area was planned and designed using six design techniques, taking into account the demands of the people and environmental factors.
