| Based on George Steiner’s Hermeneutic Translation theory, this translation report takes some chapters of Chinese ancient Academy,as the object of translated and practical research. The paper analyses the applicable translation principles and methods of informative texts in Chinese traditional folk literature. The source text is an informative text with plain in language, broad in content and rigorous in exposition, involving a large number of Classical Chinese, cultural Losses, ancient appellations and ancient chronicles. These factors add to difficulties of the translation work. The existing translation standards strive for the contextual fluency and formal equivalence between the original text and the translation, and are less suitable to the translation of Classical Chinese and vernacular combined texts in traditional folk culture, such as appellate equivalence and cultural change words in Chinese Ancient Academy. Therefore, the author selects the hermeneutical four step theory from perspective of Literary translation, fully considers the demands of translators and readers, uses the hermeneutic steps of trust reading, intrusive understanding, subjective absorption and cultural compensation to translate the source text. The mainly research methods are case-study and comparation. The summary research shows that the four step theory of hermeneutic translation is the basis for guiding the translation of informative texts in Chinese traditional folk literature, and it sums up the basic principles: equivalence of reference, accuracy of expression and completeness of interpretation,to make the whole translation smooth. |
