In the digital era,no one can distance himself or herself from the influence of social media. With the popularity of social media growing,it will definitely exert some influence on children and their childhood. As a result,it is of great necessity for scholars to understand what the trending academic ideas are in this field in other countries. The book The End of Forgetting: Growing up with Social Media is a good choice for them to gain insights and inspirations. The source text of this translation task is an excerpt from The End of Forgetting:Growing up with Social Media authored by Kate Eichhorn, which was published in2019.The book contains seven chapters. The book mainly talks about childhood documentation in different eras, forgetting and being forgotten in the digital era, screens and childhood celebrity and some other topics. From the perspective of Susan Bassnett’s cultural translation theory, translation should take culture as the translation unit.Under the guidance of the theory, the author analyses problems and solutions during translation from lexical and syntactic levels. The corresponding translation methods and techniques such as literal translation, free translation, zero translation plus annotation, conversion, linear translation and reversing are applied to ensure accuracy, readability and cultural functional equivalence. We can come to the conclusion that cultural translation theory is not only applicable to literary works, but applicable and helpful in the translation of text with cultural factors.Translators should flexibly adopt different translation strategies, methods and techniques.
