A C-E Translation Practice Report On 2020 Cloud Computing Development White Paper-Guided By Newmark’s Translation Theory

In this report,the author introduces the translation project-2020 Cloud Computing Development White Paper,and describes the whole translation process based on some source texts the author selected.In this report,the author reviews three related studies in white paper translation,publicityoriented translation and popular science translation.Guided by Newmark’s theory of semantic translation and communicative translation,the author constructed a framework for the analysis of this translation project.With some valuable source text excerpts,the author describes the difficulties in translation and provides the translation methods,which helps to enrich the connotation of Newmark’s existing translation theories.During the translation process,the author summarizes the applicability of semantic translation,including the translation of words,phrases and sentences,and the utilization of communicative translation,including integration,adjustment,rewriting and its limitation.In addition,based on the analysis of the translation of typical source texts,this report illustrates that the combination of semantic translation and communicative translation can help the translators to generate better translations.This report analyzes and solves some difficulties one might meet while doing the translation project,aiming to provide some insights for Chinese-English translation practice of the same type.
