A Report On The C-E Translation Of Informative Texts Under The Guidance Of Text Typology

Based on a case analysis of translation of informative texts commissioned by the International Association of Urban Language Studies,this report aims at discussing the specific techniques in translating informative texts and improving the quality of translation under the guidance of Reiss’ s Text Typology.The report concludes that in the C-E translation practice of informative texts,the translator can solve the problems about language difference between Chinese and English and about reproducing language features and functions of informative texts by setting up the translation criteria and adopting appropriate translation techniques under the guidance of Reiss’ s Text Typology.At the lexical level,reduction,addition and word conversion can be adopted to realize accurate and complete reproduction of the original information;at the sentence level,voice conversion,division and subsequencechanging can be used to convey the original information in a familiar way to the target readers;at the textual level,logical explicitation and structural consistency can be adopted to achieve logical and clear transmission of the original information.
