Nowadays, enterprises use KPI(Key Performance Indicator)to evaluate the work performance of their employees. With the help of KPI system, enterprise leaders can evaluate employees' work efficiency and performance in the most direct way.Through dividing long-term goals into short-term targets, key performance indicators help managers to focus on business activities, and take timely measures to solve existing problems.Currently, although many enterprises adopt performance measurement system, only few enterprises can make the best use of it.Therefore, how to select correct key performance indicators and put them into practice is not only an important issue concerned by human resource managers, but also a key topic to be solved by enterprises. This translation practice is based on a real translation task. The original text is from performance expert David Parmenter's Key Performance Indicators:Developing,Implementing and Using Winning KPIs(Chapters 18&19 and Appendixes A,B&E),and the translated text was published by China Machine Press in April 2017.In this book,David Parmenter compares his balanced scorecard with that of Kaplan and Norton,Paul Niven and PuMP of Stacey, illustrates the definition, conditions, specific measures and cases of key performance indicators. This translation practice report consists of four parts. The first part is the task description, which introduces the background, standards, and the purpose and significance of this translation practice. The second part is the task process, which includes the preparation before translation, the planning and process of translation, and the polishing and proofreading of the target text. The third part is a case study,in which it takes the Skopos Theory as the guiding theory of this translation practice.According to the Skopos Rule, the Coherence Rule and the Fidelity Rule provided by Hans J.Vermeer, text types and translation purposes, the writer illustrates several translation strategies in terms of lexical, sentence and textual levels. The fourth part is the conclusion of this translation practice report, which summarizes the gains and defects of this translation practice.Through translating interdisciplinary text, the writer aims to improve the translation ability, provide reference for performance management text translation, and bring in advanced performance indicators from abroad.
