This translation report is based on an excerpt from Trump v.Hawaii which is issued by Supreme Court of the United States.As an important legal source of the Anglo-American law system,there are few studies on the translation of that in China.In the translation of Trump v.Hawaii,there are many long and complex sentences which brings difficulty for the translation,and those sentences are commonly with long structure,many words,complex grammar and logic structure.Therefore,directed by Nida’s “Kernel Sentence” theory,the report takes long and complex sentences as research objects,and studies and analyzes four translation methods used in translating long and complex sentences on the basis of summarizing and analyzing the types of these sentences in this case text.The translation methods are mainly categorized into four types: linear translation,division translation,recasting translation,and transforming translation.To ensure the accuracy and readability of the translation,different types should be translated by different translation methods.
