Zen had become the most popular Buddhist sect in the Song Dynasty, and Dahui Zonggao,a monk of Yangqi School of Linji School in the Song Dynasty, made an important contribution to the development of Zen.In history,Dahui Zonggao is not only one of the outstanding Zen masters, but also a Buddhist representative who practices the secularized loyalty and filial piety ethics of Confucianism and constructs the loyalty and filial piety ethics of Chinese Buddhism. In his thoughts on Zen,he not only advocated reading and speaking Zen,but also found a unique way to link Buddhism with realpolitik and Confucian traditional moral concepts during the development of his thoughts on Zen.Dahui Zonggao is Fang outsiders, but his filial piety loyal patriotic heart is not less than Confucian scholar.Dahui Zonggao was in the Song Dynasty, which was famous for loyalty and filial piety as the spirit of The Times. He especially advocated the sinicized and Confucianized ethical concepts of loyalty and filial piety. He not only responded positively to the Confucian doubts on Buddhism in theory, but also strengthened the self-construction of Buddhist jungle in practice.Zonggao’s reason for taking this philosophy so seriously and for following it was the need to both consolidate Buddhism’s position in China and safeguard the interests of the rulers of the time.He always adhered to the direction of the Sinicization of Buddhism, took the initiative to absorb the Confucian thought of loyalty and filial piety, made friends with the Confucian scholars and officials of loyalty and concern for the country and the people, highlighted the idea of "bodhi heart is loyalty" under the new historical opportunity, and set up the patriotic model of traditional Chinese Buddhism of "loving the country and religion",which has far-reaching influence and profound enlightenment for the continuous Sinicization of contemporary Buddhism.
