Northern Myanmar has the largest concentration of overseas Chinese in Myanmar and is also the most prosperous area of Chinese education in Myanmar.As a major town in northern Myanmar,Lashio has a large number of Chinese schools,so native Chinese teachers play a very important role in the development of local Chinese teaching.The sustainable development of native Chinese teaching is inseparable from the sustainable development of native Chinese teachers.However,as Chinese teaching in Myanmar has not achieved a completely legal status,the survival situation is difficult,leading to the current young teachers’ mobility is generally relatively large,the situation of sustainable development is not optimistic.Therefore,this paper takes the native Chinese teachers in Lashio,Myanmar,as the research object to understand the current situation of sustainable development of native Chinese teachers in Lashio,Myanmar,through questionnaires and interviews and other forms of investigation,and further analyzes the influencing factors combined with the results of questionnaires and interviews,and puts forward several targeted countermeasures to promote the sustainable development of native Chinese teachers.In this paper,178 native Chinese teachers in Lashio,Myanmar were surveyed by questionnaire.The questionnaire content mainly focused on the two main connotations of sustainability and stability of sustainable development theory,and investigated the current status of teachers’ work and the sustainability and stability of future work as well as the influencing factors.In addition,139 high school students in Lashio Black Dragon Middle School were investigated about their cognition of Chinese teaching profession and their willingness to teach.The survey results show that the current team of native Chinese teachers is unreasonable in terms of gender,age,Chinese and non-Chinese and educational structure.The current team of teachers is also lacking in stability and sustainable development level.Young teachers have large mobility and short teaching time.High school students,as part of the reserve of Chinese teachers,are also less willing to teach.Based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory,this paper also combines the questionnaire results and interviews with the principal of Chinese school and several teachers who have resigned and changed jobs,and analyzes the factors that affect the sustainable development of teachers from five aspects,namely,physiological,safety,social,respect and self-actualization needs.Based on the problems and influencing factors in the current development of na tive Chinese teachers in Lashio,Myanmar discovered by the above investigation,thi s paper puts forward targeted suggestions and countermeasures from three different aspects,including relevant education departments,local Chinese schools in Lashio a nd teachers themselves,in order to promote the sustainable development of native C hinese teachers.
