Yunnan province enjoys enchanting natural scenery and rich biological resources.As a province with the richest diversity of species in China,Yunnan province has been the limelight and receives public concern in terms of its biodiversity as well as the related conservation work thanks to the first phase of CBD COP15 held in Kunming.Also,it has come into notices of scholars and amateurs in translation as well as interpretation studies.This is a practice report on simulated simultaneous interpreting from Chinese to English.The material of this simulated SI is selected from an on-line session: 13 th International Youth Summit on Energy and Climate Change — Meet at COP15 in Kunming.This report consists of five parts: description of the interpreting,interpreting process,introduction of theoretical framework,case study and conclusion.After transcribing the recording of her interpretation,the interpreter analyzes some mistakes and challenges that occurred in the interpreting process.Also,reasons and relevant methods are elaborated.Several interpreting methods are analyzed from four perspectives of adaptation theory: correlates of adaptability,structural objects of adaptability,dynamics of adaptability as well as salience of adaptation process based on the contents of the interpretation and the changes in the mental state of the interpreter in the process of her interpreting.By combining specific examples,the interpreter cites relevant techniques such as paraphrasing,shift,generalization,amplification and omission to achieve linguistic adaptation.In the conclusion of this report,a summary is presented by the interpreter,in which her self-reflection and suggestions for her future interpreting study has been pointed out.The interpreter hopes that this report could provide some references for her interpreting in the future and make a contribution to the promotion of biodiversity conservation in Yunnan.
