Report On Interpreting Practice Of Simulated BRICS Meeting From Perspective Of Adaptation Theory

With the continuous increase of China's international status and economic strength,our country has been exchanging frequently with other countries in the world. The international conference has become an important platform for us to share information with the outside world. Especially in recent years, with the frequent communication between China and the international society, the meeting interpreting plays a very important role in the world. This simulated interpreting practice undergoes mainly in form of the BRICS Meeting. Considering the realities of the situation, the whole interpreting is mainly performed by means of simultaneous interpreting and uses the consecutive interpreting as a supplement.This report is based on the interpreting practice of the simulated BRICS Meeting and the simulated BRICS Meeting is collectively completed with the students from the College of International Relations of Liaoning University. The BRICS includes the world's five largest emerging market countries. In recent years, those countries have attracted the world's attention for the low-cost labors and the abundant natural resources.This report mainly presents the process of the BRICS Meeting and gives detailed illustrations on the interpreting skills used in the interpreting process guided by the Adaptation Theory. The report can be divided into three parts as follows:The first part is the introduction. It briefly introduces the background information of this simulated BRICS Meeting and the significance of practicing conference interpreting.The second part is the main body which is made up of three chapters.The first chapter describes the background of this simulated BRICS Meeting, the characteristics of the interpreting task and the Adaptation Theory.The second chapter shows the process of the simulated BRICS Meeting, which includes three stages. The first stage is the pre-meeting preparation, the second is the interpreting process and the third is the improvements after the task.The third chapter is the analysis of cases, which is also the core part of the interpreting practice. Under the guidance of Adaptation Theory, the interpreter (?) gives the detailed analysis of the representative cases and comes up with the coping methods to solve the difficulties encountered in the interpreting process.The last part is the conclusion. The interpreter (?) reflects on the interpreting process of this simulated BRICS Meeting and summarizes the experience and gains learned from the task and also comments on the shortcomings which should be strengthened in the future work.
