| The Council on Foreign Relations successfully held the Annual Lecture on Human Migration and Climate Change.This thesis is a practice report on simulated consecutive interpretation for this lecture.The report summarizes the entire process of the interpreting practice,and analyzes various problems encountered by the interpreter in this professional interpretation task,and explores corresponding solutions.Guided by the interpretive theory and combining the interpretation situation at the time,the report analyzes the cases in the three stages: understanding,de-verbalization,and re-expressing,in order to identify the problems and explore reasonable coping strategies.The report also summarizes some issues in this interpretation practice,such as low comprehension level,poor expression ability,insufficient preparation,insufficient extra-linguistic knowledge,and poor physical and psychological qualities,etc.The report concludes that interpreters should enhance their bilingual proficiency and bilingual conversion ability,strengthen their knowledge reserve on relevant topics,expand their encyclopedia knowledge,improve memory capacity,and form their note-taking symbol system.It is also necessary to improve psychological quality to overcome the pressure on the spot,and enhance psychological resilience to respond to interpreting situations calmly.Only by truly improving the interpreters’ capability of interpreting,can they express the meaning freely and flexibly through de-verbalizaiton. |
