Practice Report On Project Management Process

With the development of language service industry,translation work is restricted by resources,time,cost and other factors to some extent.Inappropriate management may affect the quality and delivery time of the project.In order to manage the whole project,the author must optimize each link.So it is necessary to introduce project management in translation work in order to standardize the translation process and assign functions.Based on the translation project Honeywell Gas Transmitter Technical Manual,this report discussed the specific contents of each process and explored the factors that affected the quality of translation.An optimized translation process was designed in order to obtain the best translation.First,as a project manager,the author planned resources and management by analyzing the text,project features and client’s requirements.Based on the knowledge of project process,the author divided the project into planning process,executing process and ending process according to the characteristics of this project.Then the author analyzed the practical links,such as risk analysis,term extraction,time management and quality control.In the process of translation,the author checked the progress,communicated with the team members,and asked the customer’s opinions in time to ensure the smooth progress of the project.Then the author reflected on the above process as a translator and a reviser.And the author found out the problems existing in the actual operation process,then modified and completed the process.Finally the author put forward an optimized translation process.The author participated in the project as a project manager,translator and reviser,and systematically understood the translation project management process and the significance of project management.Hoping that this report could provide some help for similar translation projects in the future.
