| This translation report is based on Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 of The Struggle for Recognition in International Relations.Based on the recognition theory of international politics,this book analyzes the root of revisionism,conflicts and wars during power transition,mainly involving power transition theory,revisionism,recognition theory,and the rises and conflicts of great powers.The translation of this book could help readers understand current international political situation and relations among maj or powers.Before translation,the translator searched a large number of parallel texts and literature on relevant theories,and learned international political background and the knowledge of international relation.After analyzing the content and language features of the source text,the translator selected Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory as the main guiding theory in this translation practice.In the part of case analysis,the translator analyzed the translation of key points and difficult points from word,sentence and text levels,including the translation of terminology,parenthesis,passive voice,and textual cohesion and coherence devices.Translation skills,such as the extension of words’ meaning,conversion of word classes,conversion of voice and adjustment of sentence structure,were discussed.Through this translation practice,the translator has gained a deeper understanding of relevant translation theories,accumulated a lot of valuable experience,and improved her translation ability.The translation of this book,for one thing,is of guiding significance for domestic scholars’ studies of international relations;and for the other,is significant for policy-making agencies to have a better understanding of the future development of China-US relation. |
