| China Now is a Chinese lecture program jointly sponsored by Shanghai Dragon TV and the China Institute,Fudan University.The author selected the episode with the theme related to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership(RCEP)in the program as the source text to conduct the simulated C-E consecutive interpreting practice.This report makes an in-depth analysis of typical cases under the guidance of the interpretive theory,discusses and summarizes the interpretation methods and strategies adopted in the practice.This report consists of four chapters: task description,task procedures,case study and conclusion.In task description,the author introduces the source,features and significance of task.The process of the task involves preparation before interpretation,simulated CI process and post-task evaluation.The preparation includes analyzing the features of lecture programs,preparing and memorizing the glossary list,and analyzing the parallel text with similar lecture programs.In the case study,under the guidance of the interpretive theory,the author analyzes the two major difficulties in this practice,namely,words with Chinese Characteristics and semantic repetition.According to their meaning,history and origin,words with Chinese characteristics based on this task can be divided into internet buzzwords,social and cultural terms,and idioms and sayings.When dealing with these words,the author adopted the methods of cognitive supplement and free translation to facilitate the comprehension of the words and try to achieve sense equivalence;As for the redundancy caused by semantic repetition,the author adopted the method of simplification and information integration to make the output more brief and clearer.At last,the author concluded this interpreting practice,which has improved the author’s understanding and application ability of the Interpretive Theory.Besides,the author has realized the importance of strengthening the comprehension and flexible interpretation of Words with Chinese characteristics.This practice has enabled the author to deal with the difficulties under the guidance of the theory and may provide inspiration and reference for research on lecture program interpretation in the future. |
