Research On The Relationship And Countermeasures Of College Students’ Self-esteem,Cultural Identity And Cultural Confidence

Culture is the soul of a country and a nation.To achieve national rejuvenation,we need not only strong material strength,but also strong spiritual strength.Cultural confidence is the most basic,deepest and lasting power.History and reality fully prove that only when a country or a nation has confidence in the value and vitality of its own culture can it have lasting strength and vitality.Maintaining ethnic unity and national stability and development depends on cultural identity.Cultural identity not only arouses the consciousness,confidence and pride of ethnic members,but also has the special function of shaping the common national psychology.As the indispensable hope of national revitalization,college students’ identification with Chinese culture is particularly important.In the final analysis,college students’ cultural identity is to enhance their identification with Chinese culture,that is,to stimulate their nationalistic feelings and value identification with mainstream culture.Studies have shown that there is a certain correlation between cultural identity and individual self-esteem.A higher level of cultural identity is usually accompanied by a higher level of self-esteem.Therefore,self-esteem and cultural identity are mutually influenced.Other studies have shown that cultural identity is the basis and premise of cultural confidence,and cultural confidence is inseparable from the full affirmation and recognition of cultural subjects to their own culture.Therefore,cultural identity and cultural confidence are also interactive.Through previous studies,it is found that the research objects of self-esteem and cultural identity in China are relatively single,and most of them focus on college students in ethnic minority areas.At the same time,there are few studies on the relationship between self-esteem and cultural confidence,and most studies on the relationship between cultural identity and cultural confidence remain at the theoretical level.In view of this,this study explores effective ways and methods to enhance college students’ cultural confidence based on two dimensions of self-esteem and cultural identity.Select three undergraduate course colleges and universities in hangzhou self-esteem of college students,cultural identity and cultural confidence large sample questionnaire survey,the present situation and grasp the overall features,from the influence factors and the mediation effect of actively explore the key factors that affect college students’ cultural confidence,further clarify the college students’ self-esteem,self-confidence to the relationship between cultural identity and culture,This paper discusses the mediating mechanism of cultural identity between self-esteem and cultural confidence,and puts forward some suggestions and countermeasures to improve college students’ cultural confidence.The main conclusions are as follows :(1)college students’ self-esteem is at a high level;Both cultural identity and cultural confidence are at medium level.(2)There are differences in self-esteem,cultural identity and cultural confidence among college students in gender,education background,major,place of origin,only child or not.There are significant differences in cultural identity in gender and educational background.There is a significant difference in cultural confidence in academic degree,and the gender difference is mainly reflected in the emotional dimension.(3)The self-esteem,cultural identity and cultural confidence of college students are positively correlated with each other,and there are significant positive correlations among all dimensions.(4)The explanation rate of self-esteem for cultural identity is 10%,and the explanation rate of six dimensions of cultural identity(social norms 7%,mainstream culture 7.9%,ethnic acceptance 9.9%,ethnic preference 8.5%,ethnic customs about 5.2%,religious belief 2.9%)is between 2.5% and 10%.The explanation rate of self-esteem to cultural confidence and its two dimensions(emotion4.9%,initiative 3.2%)was between 3% and 5%.The explanation rate of cultural identity and its six dimensions to cultural confidence ranges from 12% to 33%,among which "ethnic acceptance" has the strongest explanation rate to cultural confidence(32.3%)."Social norms" came in second at 30.1 percent.(5)Both self-esteem and cultural identity have significant positive predictive effects on cultural confidence;However,self-esteem alone explained only 4.6% variation of cultural confidence;Cultural identity alone can explain 27% of the variation of cultural confidence,indicating that cultural identity has a greater impact on cultural confidence than self-esteem.(6)Cultural identity plays a complete mediating role between self-esteem and cultural confidence,accounting for 74%.The conclusion of this study is helpful to fully grasp the relationship between college students’ self-esteem,cultural identity and cultural confidence,and to improve college students’ cultural confidence.
