Volkswagen Group held its 2030 strategy conference with the theme of NEW AUTO in Wolfsburg,Germany on July 13,2021.At the conference it was declared that Volkswagen Group will make full use of the opportunities brought by the electric and digital era,and accelerate the transformation into a software-driven mobile service provider.The speakers’ speaking covered many new trends and new technologies in the field of new energy vehicles and the internet.Therefore,the speaking has obvious characteristics of texts in the field of science and technology.This paper uses the conference video as the material and simulates the practice of consecutive interpretation under the guidance of Translation Variation Theory.The core point of Translation Variation Theory is to emphasize that translators should adopt flexible methods such as addition,omission,edition,combination and modification to absorb the main content of source language according to the special needs of the readers under specific conditions,so as to achieve a better translation.Through practice and post-translation reflection,the author summarizes the problems encountered in the process of interpretation,and analyzes the interpretation methods of addition,omission,edition and comprehensive method under the guidance of Translation Variation Theory.This practice has trained the author’s interpretation ability in science and technology topics,and the experience summed up in this practice also provides the methods for the author’s future interpretation practice.At the same time,the author hopes that this report can provide interpreters with reference in related area.
