A Practice Report On The C-E Translation Of Report On The Work Of Qinglong Manchu Autonomous County Government In 2021(Excepts)

This paper is a Chinese-English translation practice report,and the translation materials are from the “Report on the Work of Qinglong Manchu Autonomous County Government in 2021”.The Report on the Work of Qinglong Manchu Autonomous County Government in 2021 is an official document issued by the Qinglong Manchu Autonomous County Government.It mainly covers two aspects: one is the achievements of the minority autonomous county in the past few years,including the development of politics,economy,culture and people’s livelihood;the other is the work plan and future development direction of the county in the next few years.During the translation process,due to the language uniqueness of the political texts,the translator encountered two major problems: the translation of vocabulary and sentence patterns with local characteristics.For the first question: translating numeral abbreviations and four-character words,the translator adopts translation strategies such as interpretation,amplification,negation and omission to solve the translation problems in lexical level,ensuring the accuracy of the translated text;for the second question: translating subject-less sentences and parallel sentences,the translator adopts the application of passive voice,the addition of subject,and “there be” construction,literal translation,conversion and division and other translation methods to solve the translation problems in syntactic level,enhancing the readability and diversity of the translated text,and promoting the external publicity.By studying the translation of the 2021 government work report of Qinglong Manchu Autonomous County,the translator hopes to promote the external publicity of minority areas.At the same time,it is also hoped that while improving the translator’s own translation ability and level,it can provide some reference for other translation learners to translate the same type of text.
