Cross-cultural Similarities and Differences in Parenting is written by American scholar Jennifer E.Lansford in 2021.This article introduces the differences and similarities of parenting from a cross-cultural perspective.By analyzing the characteristics of the text,the translator adapts the translation methods of omitting“地”structure,changing the part of speech and translating into phrase or clause according to the characteristics of the adverbs ending with “-ly” at the lexical level.According to the characteristics of the passive voice at the sentence level,the translation methods of translating English passive voice into Chinese passive voice and translating English passive voice into Chinese active voice are adopted.The former can be distinguished according to whether there is a passive mark,and the latter can be refined into other sentence components as the subject,adding subject and sentence with no subject.According to the characteristics of demonstrative pronoun as a cohesion device at the textual level,omitting demonstrative pronouns and reducing demonstrative meaning are used.The translator has been able to practice translation ability in translating the text,hoping to provide reference for the translation of relevant social psychology texts in the future.
